Melissa Parmenter has just finished scoring Come A Bright Day starring Timothy Spall, Imogen Poots, Craig Roberts and Kevin McKidd. The film is directed by Simon Aboud for IPSO Facto Films and Matador Films.

Melissa scored the controversially daring feature film The Killer Inside Me (starring Jessica Alba, Kate Hudson and Casey Affleck) directed by Michael Winterbottom for Revolution Films. Produced by Andrew Eaton and Bradford L Schlei. The film had its World Premiere at Sundance and then screened in Competition at the Berlin Film Festival.

“The film's dual nature owes as much to Winterbottom's direction as it does to Melissa Parmenter's score and accompanying soundtrack. Parmenter draws equally from Angelo Badalamenti's scores for David Lynch as well as Carter Burwell's Coen brothers scores, perhaps alluding to a synthesis of style that Winterbottom may have sought for the film. The dark orchestral score can also switch on moment's notice to the Texas swing and blues soundtrack within any given scene, turning the most serious of moments into surreal, humorous ones”

The film follows her last collaboration with Winterbottom on Genova (starring Colin Firth, Perla Haney-Jardine, Willa Holland, Catherine Keener and Hope Davis). As well as writing the score Melissa was also the Line Producer on the film which had it’s Gala screening at The London Film Festival.

Other recent films have included Into The Rose Garden directed by Anthony Wilcox and starring Tom Payne, Antonia Campbell-Hughes and The Shock Doctrine directed by Mat Whitecross and Michael Winterbottom.

 

Melissa has composed and performed solo Piano music for several feature films including Top Spot directed by Tracey Emin, 9 Songs and A Mighty Heart (starring Angelina Jolie and Dan Futterman) directed by Michael Winterbottom.

 

During the past 7 years Melissa has also been working as a Producer and Music Supervisor for Revolution Films. In 2004 Melissa produced her first feature Top Spot directed by the renowned British Artist Tracey Emin. The film was funded by the BBC and premiered at the Berlin Film Festival in 2005.

In 2005 Melissa was Associate Producer and Music Supervisor on Michael Winterbottom’s film 9 Songs and then went on to Produce The Road To Guantanamo in 2006 together with Producer Andrew Eaton. The film was a Revolution Films production for Channel 4, directed by Michael Winterbottom and Mat Whitecross. The film won the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival (2007) and was nominated for two European Film Awards.
