DNA Music Limited are proud to offer you the highly creative services
of Ian Neil (Film Music Supervisor). Ian has vast music knowledge and
is an expert in searching for music, handling copyright clearance and
liaising with the majors as well as independent labels.
After
a spell with Our Price Records and Jeff Wayne Music; Ian went on to become
Head of Film & TV for what was then Polygram Records. He was responsible
for all the record label’s interests and his first taste of success
was brokering two Lighthouse Family
commercials (this was before the Lighthouse Family were a household name).
Other exploitation in commercials in which Ian was involved brought top
twenty singles and Platinum selling albums in the UK, together with a
Gold selling album in Japan.
The new millennium meant a new challenge for Ian and in December 1999
he moved to Warner/Chappell Music Publishing as Head of Film, TV &
Advertising. This now gave him the unique triple set of having experience
as a third party consultant, record company and now music publisher.
He
kicked off his career at Warners with a clutch of commercials for Moby
which catapulted the album ‘Play’ to an unprecedented
level of record sales. Goldfrapp, Overseer,
Groove Armada, The Charlatans, Lamb and
Smashmouth
are just a number of other artists that benefited under the guise of Ian
and his department. After just 3 years Ian was promoted to Director of Film, TV & Advertising
at Warner/Chappell Music Ltd. At both Universal and Warners he supervised
on a number of films and in 2004 decided to
leave Warners to concentrate on freelance Film Music Supervision.
In one capacity or another Ian has been involved with literally hundreds
of UK films and has acquired numerous credits and acknowledgements. One
notably huge success was Lock Stock & Two
Smoking Barrels which Ian co-music supervised and
resulted in the soundtrack sales going double-platinum and exceeding
600,000 units!
