David James Herbert
“David knows how to make people stop in there tracks and
listen. With his wonderful lyrics and fantastic music this guy is going
to go
far." “This is nothing like the archetypal singer/songwriters who follow the same formula and bore everyone to tears (yes, I'm looking at you Blunt!) This is a remarkable album for someone of Herbert’s age both in the quality and depth of songwriting but also in the quality of the production work too. Freddie Mercury once said about success Talent will out I only hope that this is the case for David James Herbert because he has the vast talent, now he just needs to be heard by the wider public. Surely, anyone who hears this album can’t help but be astonished and hooked in" - Heathen Angel "A mini-epic, full of electronic and emotional tension"
Abbey Road Studios (2006)
"Can grind out a song as though he's been a hobo trailing the Mississippi
Delta for 20 years!" (Live) "Confident and charismatic" David James Herbert is one to watch following an unbelievable couple
of years… Winning a national unsigned competition by public vote,
supporting Corinne Bailey Rae in Scotland and getting hunted down by
Billboard for an interview after they spotted his talent were just some
of his achievements. DJH has also had tracks Mothers Love and Since This Morning played on a number of radio stations such as Clyde 1, Forth 1, Northsound 1, Radio Borders, Tay FM, MFR, and West FM. It’s a long way in a short space of time. It all started in 2004 when David James Herbert took to the stage for the first time at Whistle Binkies in Edinburgh for a local open-mic night. Within weeks he was headlining the Out Front showcase for local songwriters at the prestigious Roxy Art House and picking up his first local and national reviews in the process.
If David wasn’t busy enough, 2007 also saw the creation of his own label One Three Five Records whose first release was Born Again Hooligan. Press Release The Life & Times Of The Man With No Name is finally released on 20th April 2009 through Hard Graft Records... "With a lead track that sounds like many of the best of Gomez's finest moments and the rest like a young Verve who've just discovered they've got straight A+s on GCSE day and play some happy songs to celebrate! Sexy, atmospheric and rocking with the best of them." "David James Herbert's songs are big in many ways. His voice
is direct and unmissable, his well-hewn tunes are quick
to lodge in your mind and then there's that undeniably celtic sense of
scale that defines a track like Icebergs.
But Herbert is no straightforward heartfelt troubadour. Coffee
In St Pauls is a delicately crafted ballad for the small hours,
