Skeewiff (aka Elliot Ireland & Alessandro Rizzo)

Skeewiff
Originally signed to Ministry of Sound's FSUK Breakbeat label in 1996, producer duo Alex Rizzo and Elliot Irelands first major hit followed in 1999 with the track Mucho Mambo (Sway) under the alter ego Shaft. The record, which is now regarded as one of the all time classic summer hits, went on to sell over 1.5 million copies and hit the No.1 spot in five different countries..

Further hits followed, this time under the guise of Da Muttz with a track inspired by a well known TV commercial that spawned the infamous ‘Wasssup’ tagline. The resultant track was another instant hit, this time in mainland Europe, selling in excess of 1 million copies.

Following their departure from Ministry Of Sound in ’99 they promptly formed their own record label Jalapeno Records, where they have so far released 3 studio albums under the artist name Skeewiff, their lounge-hop moniker and a further two as IKON, their brand for the more down-tempo chilled moments.Skeewiff

As well as producing studio albums, global DJing duties and collaborations with the likes of Alison Limerick, Eminem, Skooly D & Young MC, they have also been recruited to write specially composed music for many high profile brands including Nike, Speedo, Volkswagen, Playstation and American Express, as well as TV commission work for Endemol, Planet 24 and Brand Champions.

The boys have recently been commissioned to produce all of the music for the first television series of new cartoon Brit Chicks. Additionally they are writing the 12 featured tracks that the girl group are to perform. The first series is 52 x 11minute episodes and is pretty much wall to wall music! The animation is by Different Films and the concept is owned by Brand Champions, with additional funding coming from Target Entertainment and Rubicon.

Recent remix work has seen them working with Amy Winehouse, pop superstars The Sugarbabes both for Universal Music Group and collaborating with Finley Quaye, as well as most recently being recruited by Universal / Decca to write and producer tracks for several of the labels latest signings.
