Chad Hobson
Chad Hobson is a classically trained composer. He began his career in
the pop music industry working with bands as diverse as Snoop
Dogg, Massive Attack, Finley Quaye, Take That and Des’ree.
In 2008 Chad completed the score for the hit film Adulthood,
BAFTA winning Noel Clarke’s edgy sequel to the highly acclaimed
British independent film Kidulthood.
Where he merged film music with underground Hip Hop and grime music.
Chad’s musical diversity can be heard in films such as James McTeigue’s
Ninja Assassin (starring
Naomie Harris and Rain), produced
by the Joel Silver and the Wachowski brothers where he arranged
and played Asian ethnic instruments supported by full orchestra as well
as vocal arrangements. He is also credited with vocals on the classical
score for The Young Victoria.
When
he crossed into film and Television music, his work was quickly noticed.
He began to work with composer Ilan Eshkeri and award-winning producer
Steve McLaughlin on high profile film projects like Matthew Vaughn’s
fantasy adventure, Stardust
starring Claire Danes, Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer,Hannibal
Rising the fourth in the Hannibal Lecters series, Mark
Mahon’s Strength and Honour starring
Michael Madsen and Vinnie Jones (Winner of Best Film and Best Director
at the Boston Film Festival) and Film Four’s Battle
of Haditha, directed by Nick
Broomfield.
He also composed the music for the BAFTA award winning BBC1 series Fight
for life, Series 8 of Waking
the Dead along with many documentaries and dramas for
Ch4 and the BBC including Jamie Olivers
Ministry Of Food and BAFTA nominated Help
Me Help My Child and many of the MTV's
EMA's directed by Hamish Hamilton. He also composed the
music for Telstar the successful
London West end play written by Nick Moran, starring Linda Robson and
Con O’Neil about legendary record producer Joe Meek.
